Our goal is to provide a quality lacrosse program for high
school age boys living in Southwest Portland. Our student athletes learn the
values of sportsmanship, camaraderie and competition. The priorities for our student
athletes are family, school and lacrosse. Our club also includes the development
of skills, character and leadership at all levels.
Ida B. Wells Men’s Lacrosse club is open to 9th – 12th grade boys
living in the Ida B. Wells High School district of Southwest Portland. In Oregon,
lacrosse is not an official sport of the Oregon School Activities Association
(OSAA) and not a member of PIL (Portland Interscholastic League). Therefore,
our team is run as a non-profit club by parent volunteers, and we rely on fees,
fundraising and the Boosters. Our club is a member of the Oregon High
School Lacrosse Association (OHSLA), Columbia Division, which follows OSAA
rules and guidelines, with very few exceptions.
Our club is the largest outside of IBWBHS Track and Cross Country,
and open to players of any level of experience.
Many of the players participate
in multiple sports and have previous experience at youth lacrosse, but neither
are not required. If you do not have prior lacrosse experience, it helps to be
generally athletic, have good hand-eye coordination, be in good condition, be
ready to work hard in practices and learn to love the fast game of lacrosse.
